The Case for Supporting the EM/SEM Jets
The mission of the El Monte/South El Monte Jets Youth Football & Cheer (EM/SEM Jets) is to provide local children with a safe, structured environment where they can develop discipline, teamwork, leadership, and confidence through football and cheer.
Since 1962, the EM/SEM Jets have provided children from El Monte, South El Monte, and the surrounding San Gabriel Valley with an opportunity to participate in organized youth sports. Families rely on our program for positive coaching, physical activity, mentorship, healthy competition, and a strong sense of belonging.
Without the EM/SEM Jets, many local children would have fewer opportunities to develop positive relationships with coaches, teammates, and teamwork. Our goal is to keep participation affordable, provide safe equipment, recruit responsible coaches, strengthen our football and cheer programs, and ensure that financial hardship does not prevent a child from participating.
The Jets already have a committed group of volunteer coaches, board members, team parents, and community supporters. The EM/SEM Jets have practice equipment, uniforms, access to local fields, fundraising programs, a website, and volunteers who help operate football, cheer, registration, concessions, and community events.
The EM/SEM Jets are governed by a volunteer board of directors and operates as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations and fundraising proceeds are used to support equipment, uniforms, field expenses, safety supplies, league fees, and other needs directly related to serving our athletes.
Our kids need affordable and constructive activities outside of school. Many of our youth are exposed to gangs and other negative influences. The EM/SEM Jets provide a positive alternative where children can find trusted mentors, friendship, accountability, and a team that encourages responsible choices both on and off the field.
The EM/SEM Jets primarily serve children and working families from El Monte, South El Monte, and San Gabriel Valley. Our area is predominantly Latino, and some families may find the cost of youth sports difficult to afford. We seek to make football and cheer accessible while providing every athlete with a safe and supportive experience.
With the help of community partners, the EM/SEM Jets can replace outdated equipment, improve athlete safety, keep participation affordable, expand opportunities, and continue serving local children for years to come. Supporting the Jets is not only an investment in football and cheer, it's an investment in the character, confidence, safety, and future of our youth.
